The Opening Ceremony of Chung Ming Hut

Yesterday, my school held the opening ceremony of Chung Ming Hut, the tuck shop of my school.

There were many guests. They told us about Chung Ming Hut. The shopkeepers are hearing impaired people so teachers encouraged us to use hand language to make orders.

The lighting-up ceremony was great. There were many lines of colourful lightbulbs and made the floor flashing beautifully. At last, we sang a Putonghua song 無邊界 with hand language.

I like Chung Ming Hut. The food was yummy. I also like these hearing impaired people to work in our school because this makes me know that they are useful to the society.

Mid-Autumn Festival

During the Mid-Autumn festival, my family went to the park near my home to celebrate. We saw the big full moon for a short while. This year, my grandpa and grandma moved house. Now, there is no balcony, we could not look at the moon there.

We did not stay in the park for long because it was too hot. We played lanterns and luminous bars. I put the bars together to make a jumping rope, then I jumped happily over it.

This year, I played with the lantern I made myself in an art lesson. I draw the face of ‘Joker’ on it. Joker is the enemy of Batman. I put a real candle in the lantern. It’s real fun. I like this one better than the plastic ones because I needed to be very careful when I was holding it. If I was careless, the lantern will burn up. I think the plastic ones with light bulbs are for very young kid only. I won’t buy them anymore.

I like to eat the Hairy Beans and the moon cakes. They were yummy. Thank you Grandpa for making the Hairy Beans and taros.

I felt so glad because the whole family can play and eat together.

My Summer Camp

On 25th August to 27th August, I went to a camp named ‘Leadership Camp’. It was a three-day-one-night camp. This time, I went with Jeff and a new friend named 麥皓程. There were 54 children. We were group 4.

The first day, we went to 大欖郊野公園 to have lunch and games. I didn’t like it because while I was having my lunch, there was a bug stuck on my hand! When we were playing games, there was a bee flying around someone’s head! He screamed loud. Then, we went to 歷史遺跡經 to have hiking. We had to find some treasures to win the game. Jeff and I were running so fast and the other children in group 4 were so slow. After hiking, my legs were so tired.

The second day, we went to the campsite named 洞梓童軍中心. We marched at the playground. At first, the tutors told us to ‘turn’, ‘salute’and ‘stand ease’, then they covered our eyes and watched us marching. If they saw someone did wrong, they told them to stand somewhere else and so they couldn’t play.

After marching, the tutor told us where we sleep that night. I stayed in room 12. There were 8 beds in the room. In the campsite, there was a hall near the rooms, we always gathered at the hall and the tutor will tell us when we need to get back.

At four o’clock, we had to find out different places in the camp site. We had some clues that the tutor wrote on the paper. There were 10 levels for this game. We came second in the race.

At night, we went to the canteen to have dinner. I love the chicken wings the best. After that, we went to the hall to have a party; everyone had to sing a song. We turned off the light and used the torch to make the ceiling bright. It was very beautiful.

At last, we went to sleep at twelve o’clock. I didn’t sleep, Jeff and I were playing games and we were talking, the other boys were all sleeping.

The third day in the morning, we started to leave the campsite. We packed all the things then we went to the hall. Before leaving, we played some games. The most exciting was we had to use one finger to hold a paper cup full of water. We walked very slowly and went to different places. We had to walk up a slope and walk up and down the stairs. Then, we exchanged presents with one another. I’ve got a note book and a pen.

In the afternoon, we all took a bus and went for a picnic. After lunch, the tutor taught us to build a tent. Then we had a competition to see which group built a tent faster. We lost, just a second slower, we couldn’t zip up the tent fast enough. Then we played some group games.

We went home at 3 pm and the tutor gave us a certificate.

This was a happy camp, but I like the Easter one better.
